Douglas Floccare, MD Aeromedical Director 2008 AMPA Medical Director of the Year |
As the State Aeromedical Director, Dr. Floccare is responsible for the medical care rendered by every paramedic in the Aviation Command.
Dr. Floccare is constantly involved with the Command paramedics. In addition to participating in skills review and training classes, he also takes the time to regularly fly as a member of a flight crew. Dr. Floccare is also notified - any time, day or night - of certain advanced procedures or extraordinary calls. He has been instrumental in helping to change protocols to allow Command medics to operate at the highest level possible.
And unlike many EMS medical directors, Dr. Floccare knows each one of "his" medics by name.
A 19-year-veteran of the Command with 32 years of pre-hospital and emergency care experience, Dr. Floccare was presented the 2008 Air Medical Physician Association’s Medical Director of the Year in ceremonies at the organization’s national conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His nomination was selected from among physicians across the country who work with medical evacuation programs.
