Corporal Jonathan P. Longest Flight Paramedic Risk Management |
TFC Michael Deruggiero Pilot Risk Management |
The Maryland State Police Aviation Command takes pride in its safety
record. An optimally safe work and flight environment
for flight crew members, maintenance technicians and passengers is of
paramount importance. Although the ultimate responsibility for safety
rests with the Command Commander, SAFETY is the primary responsibility
of all Command personnel.
The Command's safety culture is promulgated through
educational programs, timely dissemination of safety related
information, recognition of safe work performance, a hazard reporting system, consistent / persistent enforcement of operating
policies and procedures, safety audits and periodic classroom and flight
evaluations of all flight crew personnel.
The Risk Management Section consists of a non-comissioned officer Supervisor, one Pilot, one Maintenance
Inspector and one Flight Paramedic. Each member reports directly to the
Commander of the Command. All members of Risk Management strive to
remain visible and maintain a flexible work schedule. This allows them
to respond to all issues that demand Risk Management attention in a
timely manner. Risk Management personnel work integrally with all
Command members and frequently liaison with external customers and
authorities to assist coordination of Aviation Command mission
efforts.
